Well as you would probably know if you have been following The Panther Family website a celebration was held and continues for the birth of Jemima Nikla Panther and as I often do savoured the moment with a good cigar. It is part of my family’s tradition to smoke Cuban cigars at special moments in our lives and has been passed down from one generation to another. Although Davidoff cigar tobacco comes from the Dominican Republic their cigar blending and quality are extremely good. I have regularly reached out for various styles of the Davidoff range and they never let you down in the satisfaction department. Good quality very enjoyable, nicely wrapped, nice aroma and flavour. On this special occasion I chose the Zino Torpedo Cigar as it is one of my favorites and we most certainly ploughed our way through a bushel or two with our large family and friends dropping in to wish Jemima well. Believe it or not these cigars are well priced and can be purchased at a low box price.
The Torpedo brings the brand to eight sizes and is the only shaped cigar in the line. It measures 5 inches by 54 ring with a suggested retail price of $7.80, or $156 per box of 20. The cigar comprises an Ecuadorian Connecticut-sun-grown wrapper, Honduran binder, and filler from Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
Zino Davidoff born on 11 March 1906 in the Ukrainian city of Kiev was a man with a keen sense of the essential, whom knew how to enjoy that special moment. "Smoke less, but smoke better and smoke longer making a cult of it a philosophy!" this was his life and legacy. Zino’s goal was to enrich his and others lives through pleasure and he never lost sight of this aim. In 1930 he expanded the family tobacco shop in Geneva by adding the first special cellar for optimum storage of cigars.
In 1946 he created his famous "Chateau" line of cigars which he named after great Bordeaux wines. 1970 saw him join forces with his long standing friend Dr. Ernst Schneider and the acquisition of the Geneva shop by the old established family business Oettinger from Basel. With this began the development of Davidoff into a sought-after brand that met with success across the globe.
Then as now Davidoff cigars have always been an art in their own right and satisfy the most discerning customers. The tobaccos used are sourced in the Dominican Republic, yet each series of Davidoff cigars has its own special composition and its own individual character. The secret to the success of Davidoff products lies in the seamless intertwining of tradition, innovation and a sense of elegant functionality.
